Mission

  The National Mosquito-Borne Diseases Control Research Center (NMDC) was formally established in April 2016 in response to the severe dengue outbreaks reported in southern Taiwan in 2014 and 2015. The NMDC plays an active role as a think tank to help epidemic-control units of both the central government and local governments and provide them with useful knowledge concerning evidence-based epidemic prevention measures. The goals of the NMDC are:

  • to control and prevent dengue virus infection;
  • to accurately predict the trend of mosquito-related epidemics;
  • to effectively reduce the vector mosquito index, the virus infection rate, and severe disease mortality.
